Bagmaking Basics - Easy Does It

Celebrate your progress and put all your new skills to work in the final class of our 4-part Bagmaking Basics Series! The Easy Does It essentials bag is the perfect capstone project. Practical, sturdy, and full of techniques that bring together everything you’ve learned throughout the series.

In this class, you’ll dive into full bag construction from start to finish. We’ll begin by quilting Soft and Stable with your main and lining fabrics to create a durable, professional-feeling bag body. From there, you’ll learn how to cut and shape quilted panels, round corners cleanly, prepare and attach custom-fabric handles, and install a long zipper using ByAnnie’s signature zipper-strip method. You’ll assemble the bag with a continuous side-and-zipper panel, then bind all raw edges with handmade bias binding for a beautiful inside-and-out finish.

This project reinforces essential skills like accurate cutting, managing bulk, stitching around curves, and aligning key points—all while building confidence with the techniques introduced in earlier classes. By the end of this session, you’ll have a polished, roomy essentials bag that’s perfect for travel, crafting supplies, or everyday organization. More importantly, you’ll walk away empowered to tackle more advanced ByAnnie patterns and future bagmaking projects with skill and confidence.

All materials for the class (including the machine!) will be provided. Just bring yourself! If you would like to bring in your own machine, please feel free to do so.
